This is what REALLY happened out on the streets of London on 26th March 2011 starting at the previously jovial atmosphere outside Fortnum and Mason. What started as an organised TUC march quickly gave way to simultaneous protests from people of all walks of life. Anti-war, anti-capitalists, anarchists, anti-tax, families, OAPs, punks, students.. The list is endless. A wide representation of the general public attended and made their voice heard. Not only did Police Officer Badge Number JI15 not know the difference between a Law and an Act of Parliament / Statute, but he also REPEATEDLY cited "The Police Criminal Evidence Act" as the lawful reason that people remove their masks. As far as I am aware, the actual ACT is actually Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 (CJA). What hope do we have if the very Officers who have taken an Oath to protect US don't even know what they are enforcing?! I only saw peaceful protest. People expressing themselves according to their rights. The only violence I saw was propagated by the vastly outnumbered police presence who seemed only to be in any real control once the huge numbers dropped right off late into the evening. Luck would have it that I had the pleasure of spending much of the day with Charlie Veitch and other Love Police as well as people from The Kindness Offensive. Thanks guys for a great day.
